This Compatible High Capacity HP 903XL Black Ink Cartridge is quoted as doing up to 825 pages before needing to be replaced.
The page yield is calculated by manufacturers using ISO/IEC 24711 standards, where they print set documents of 5% page coverage until the cartridge is empty. The standard means you can compare yields between cartridges and manufacturers.
This cartridge is manufactured by a quality-approved third party company as a direct replacement for the HP version, giving you the same easy installation, high page yield of up to 825 pages, and awesome print quality, at a fraction of the cost.
Dropping into your printer as normal, this HP 903XL compatible black cartridge will be accepted by your printer and just work without issue, and you won't notice any difference in print quality; even on photo prints! They meet stringent quality guidelines and go through a huge amount of testing to ensure they're the best of the best, giving you excellent printing at our low price.
Order this compatible HP 903XL today to enjoy free, fast delivery and a 12-month money back guarantee.
Important: HP 903 printers work with serial numbers on cartridges as a kind of "hand shake". There is a very small chance a compatible will use a serial number your printer has already seen and reject it with a "failed" error. If you reinstall the cartridge it will try a new serial number and work :)
|Page Yield||825 pages|
2.42p per page
This value is calculated from manufacturer's estimates of how many pages a cartridge will print, and should only be used to compare cartridge running costs.
Page yields are estimated using the ISO standard of 5% coverage on a plain A4 page, which is roughly the length of a short letter.
Great value compatible cartridge - no issues with the chip, works perfectly!
Thanks for the great review Julian! We are really pleased to hear your cartridge is working well :)Answered by Elly Bourne (staff member) - July 08, 2021 09:22
This was a replacement for a cartridge which failed to work on first being installed. You can't fault StinkyInk, even if you wanted to. The failed cartridge was bought some months before so as to have one when the old ran out of ink. When it was empty, I put in the new one which did not work, so I emailed StinkyInk and a FOC replacement arrived next day. So they are absolutely true to their word.

Black ink did not work which I brought in a combination pack. Rang stinkyink, sent a replacement next day, thank you.
Black Cartridge 903XL for HP6960. Did not work. The replacement sent to me also did not work. I havn't tried to load the other colours that I purchased as yet. I have tried to email Stinkyink directly regarding the problems i have. their website did mention a chip issue with these inks cartridges but as yet nobody has contacted me. I know this is a difficult time for everyone and Stinkyink have always had good customer service in the past. So maybe just a blip an normal service will be resumed when things get back to normal.
I'm sorry to hear that there has been a problem with the black cartridges.
I will contact you directly to check the full issue, also to check on the firmware version and get this resolved for you.
I'm very sorry, we have not been in touch, we respond to every email received each working day.Answered by Tara Ward (staff member) - April 15, 2020 11:45
Not compatible. Really disappointed. My Dad gets his cartridges from this website and all fine for him so I was very disappointed it has not worked out for me. Don't have any problems with website, delivery, customer service after purchase Hoping can swap unused cartridges I paid for for the genuine ones :( and pay the extra...
Sorry that you have had an issue with your ink.
I will personally contact you now to further assist you.

Use our 'Check this ink fits your printer' box at the top of this page to confirm this cartridge is suitable for your printer model. In most cases the model number is written on the front of your printer.
Note: These cartridges will only work in printers purchased in the UK and Europe. Printers purchased outside of these zones will have different coding and electronics.
We don't advise on the number of millilitres, as not every cartridge prints using the same droplet size, so two cartridges for two different printers may both have 5ml of ink, but one will print more than the other. Instead, more accurately, the industry standard is based on printing 5% of an A4 page.
This is known as page yield. The number of pages you'll be able to print depends on the cartridge you purchase and the kind of printing you do. The page yields shown higher up the page are based on printing 5% of the area on an A4 page.
Learn more about how many pages you'll be able to print with this cartridge in this article.
No, you aren't able to use other cartridges alongside your HP Instant ink ones. Cartridges in the Instant Ink program have different coding, so whilst enrolled, you are locked into their service and must use their cartridges. Read our blog to learn more about HP Instant Ink.
If you choose a high-capacity (XL) version of this cartridge it will still fit in your printer. The size of the cartridge is the same, but they are just filled up more to provide you with extra prints, often at a substantially lower cost per page printed.
Providing you haven't had a recent firmware update (see question below), you shouldn't have a problem. The chips on our cartridges are updated regularly to avoid firmware interference, but in the unlikely event your printer did reject the cartridges, you are covered by our 12-month guarantee.
Firmware updates are updates put through your printer by the printer manufacturers (e.g. HP, Epson, Canon etc.). The update can contain code that stops any third-party cartridges from working, so that you can only use original brand cartridges. In most cases you cannot undo this update, but you can switch updates off to prevent it.
Yes, these cartridges are designed to work no differently from originals, so all the same functions should be available.
Third-party cartridges must be designed to differ slightly from the originals, to fit in with legal copyright requirements. However, the cartridges are still made to fit in your printer and are tested rigorously to ensure compatibility with your printer. We use a small number of trusted suppliers and while the look of the cartridges can vary slightly from each one, they will fit your printer.
