The drum is a heated roller which takes the toner powder from the cartridge, warms it up so it sticks and then prints it on to the page in your chosen design. This is then passed over to the fuser unit to seal it all down. The DR1050 drum can process up to 10,000 pages in its life cycle so you won't need to change it as often as your toners but it will need to be changed when you are warned to keep everything running smoothly.

The drum is safely packaged and sealed inside its box so it can be stored for up to six months without its quality or performance being affected.
