What is involved when replacing the toner? Is all that is required = replacing the toner cartridge...or is more involved (such as toner drum...or fuser/toner assembly replacement required)?
If all that is required = replacement of toner cartridge....then how often (and under what circumstances) do the toner drum or/and fuser/drum assembly need replacing?

With that, and many other Brother machines, you remove both the toner cartridge and the drum from the machine at the same time (as they're attached to one another). With them out, you can then detach the toner from the drum, install the new cartridge onto it, and put them both back in.
Brother quote the drum at 12,000 pages at a 5% coverage, so you'll be changing anywhere from 4 to 10 toners for each drum, based on their page yields.
