I’ve just submitted an update to Terminally to the WordPress.org themes directory which makes things work a little bit better in older versions of Internet Explorer (basically, to make up for it’s lack of support for RGBA colour transparency). I’ve made it my mission to keep IE specific hacks out of my themes but this will also help older versions of all browsers so I can justify it. One thing you won’t ever see is an IE specific stylesheet in any of the themes that I produce.

If the whole web took this stance, we would be able to kill off old versions of IE much quicker and get to a point where we all use browsers that stay up to date through the use of silent rapid release cycles, just like Chrome, which after just a couple of years is already on version 17 (not that you would know, Chrome never prompts you to upgrade or restart!).

This update has been approved and will go live the next time WordPress update the theme directory (usually once a week if my memory serves me right).

Plugin update: Kiss Insights

I’ve just updated the Kiss Insights plugin to version 2.0.2 which fixes a serious bug which would make the plugin output a PHP error on servers where that option is enabled and just flat-out not work for everyone else. This was because I basically forgot to commit the additional file I added in the last change when I updated the plugin. My bad. It’s all fixed I promise.

You can get the updated plugin at WordPress.org or update from within your WordPress Dashboard.

It’s been a bit of a struggle getting this one live due to some hold-ups in the moderation process but I’m happy to say it’s finally live!

This theme means a lot to me as I built it as a theme for myself first and formost based around my own tastes and needs and then modified it for general release. I have lots of updates planned for coming months too. Don’t be put off by the green background either as the background colours are completely customisable!

Hello Sexy has gained custom header support so you can easily customise the header without touching your CSS!

Fiver  has had some small refinements to improve code quality and a new sexier layout for the search results page.

Update now from your WordPress admin screen or manually using the links above!

In other news, there’s a whole bunch of changes coming to some of our WordPress themes that should be approved soon:

Fiver has had it’s CSS tweaked so it uses consistent EM’s for font sizing rather than a combinations of em’s and px. I’ve also drastically improved the look of the search results.

HelloSexy now has support for WordPress custom headers – you can add a custom background image to the header separate to the content and change the font colour as you see fit.

Terminally has been approved by the WordPress Theme Moderation team and should go live in the near future.

Both changes are currently in the moderation queue and should be live on WordPress.org in coming weeks.

I’ve now fixed it and it should work if you remove / re-add the plugin or apply the update that should appear in your WP admin panel.

Our second WordPress theme, HelloSexy is now live in the WordPress.org themes directory – get it now!

As a theme developer, I dislike hardcoding things like this into the theme because it makes changing themes difficult and introduces all kinds of dependencies to the site. And so, I built a quick and easy plugin that drops the Kiss Insights code into the foot of the page. There are no options, no settings and nothing to do – just upload, activate and you’re away!

I have released the Kiss Insights plugin here – I hope to get it listed in the WordPress Plugin directory in the future, but as you know from my past updates – these things can take a while!

Update: I have now created a plugin for Kiss Metrics as well! You can download it here!

Although the version number has changed drastically, this is only a bug fix, however it does give us a stable basis on which to add new functionality and features in the coming months. Don’t worry though – you’ll always be able to use Fiver in it’s current ultra simple state!

In other news, Fiver has now passed the 11,000 downloads mark which is quite an achievement for a theme that is barely 6 months old!

Finally, we have just had our second WordPress theme ‘Hello Sexy‘ approved by moderators at WordPress.org and will soon be listed in the official directory. I have big plans for Hello Sexy as far as customisation and functionality goes, so keep your eyes peeled – we’ll make an official annoucement just as soon as they put it live!
