The E820, An Epson Printer in true Japanese style November 21, 2011 12:00 by Mike Derges

Epson E820 Photo PrinterThe latest creation by Epson is a highly portable, massively compatible photo printer. What makes it unique is the design, looking like a cross between a lunchbox and a microwave oven, it also comes equipped with a handle on top!

Despite it's small size the Colorio E820 comes packed with features to enable it to truly be a PC free Printer; - Handle on top for ease of transport. - 7 inch 800 x 400 display, that's large enough to see your prints clearly and make sure they're up to scratch before spending your valuable Epson ink on them. - Wireless keyboard and remote control to allow you to adjust your prints with comments or greetings without needing the use of an external computer. - Compatible with both Mac OSX and PC machines. - Able to take input from a host of devices; USB, SDXC, MicroSDHC, xD-Picuter cards and MS Pro Memory cards.

All of this comes in a package that's only marginally bigger and weighs only .4 kg more than the Epson printer I wrote about on Friday the EP-101 machine.

The only feature I feel is missing from the E820's repertoire is the ability to connect wirelessly or via bluetooth to mobile devices. I find that quite odd considering the general trend towards such tech and the focus this Epson printer on convenient printing.

The other downside to this printer, other than only currently being sold in Japan, is it's price-tag, at just under 50000 yen (£415) it's not a cheap device.

If you're looking for a printer in a similar vein in the UK try looking at the Epson Picturemate series.
