Ricoh reveals its new MDS 2.0 technology November 09, 2011 14:21 by Rob Williams

Printer ink firm Ricoh has unveiled its new Managed Document Services (MDS) 2.0 technology.

The company claims that the MDS 2.0 represents a significant early progress in the expansion of its services-led business model – which it outlined in January 2011.

Furthermore, Ricoh stated that it has made a three-year commitment to enhance its global MDS infrastructure.

According to the firm, this new system will evolve from just concentrating on providing improved document workflow solutions for printer ink users to now allowing them to focus on the management of their technology and achieving business goals.

On top of this, the latest software will provide consumers with a system that lets them reduce their bottom line through cost-effective printer ink solutions.

Sergio Kato, associate director of Ricoh and general manager of global MDS, said: "We applied our expertise and sharpened our focus on what customers need, even when they can’t articulate their requirements in so many words.

"Our refined service delivery methodology is designed to better help customers meet their business objectives while retaining the flexibility they need to overcome their unique information challenges.”

Recently, a number of Ricoh printer ink products were awarded with the international FograCert Validation Printing System certification.

The company's Ricoh Pro C651EX, Pro C751EX and Pro C751 were given the honour for meeting ISO/DIS 12647-8 standard.

According to the printer ink firm, the certification confirms that all three digital colour devices can consistently deliver high-quality documents for consumers.

"This certification is timely recognition of how we are helping print service providers to transform their businesses through digital printing; offering fast, efficient turnaround, to deliver the variety of jobs their customers want, including booklets, direct mail, reports and books on demand," said Peter Williams, executive vice president in Ricoh's Production Printing Business.

He added: "Since launching the series, we’ve received many orders from across Europe, proving that print professionals are turning to Ricoh to be their business partner in the print business of the future."
