Today Epson announced the release of their latest efforts in their LabelWorks series of label printers.

The new LW-300 and LW400 models are intended to deliver “an easy-to-use, versatile and creative solution for almost any application, whether organizing at home, in the office, or in the field with specialized jobs like cable and wire labeling.” according to Epson America’s Anna Jen, director of new business development. Both printers can print over 450 different symbols and can be used in 7 different languages they cover the basic needs of a label printer with ease. Not only that they bring  14 different fonts with 10 styles which are all printable in 5 sizes of text.

Printing labels isn’t limited to simple words anymore either, oh no, both printers can produce more than 80 different borders on 6, 9 and 12 millimeter wide tapes with the LW-400 being able to accommodate the larger 18mm as well. The tapes, while we’re on the subject, are available in a wide range of colours including pastel shades, there are even some fluorescent and transparent options, all of which are resistant to water as well as changes in temperature.

As well as this capacity for a wider tape the LW-400 also features a 2 line display, backlit for ease of use in low light conditions, and the ability to store the 50 most recent labels printed.

Epson have decided to exclusively sell the printers through their own website and that of amazon.com. The LW-300 is expected to hold a sticker price of $39.99 and the LW-400 is expected to sell at $49.99. currently no UK pricing information is available. In addition registering the purchase on Epson.com will allow the warranty to be extended by a year granting a 3 year warranty.

Just writing this has made me want to find my old label gun and start “sorting” my things again.
