Xerox Keeps Up Military Service Sep 30, 2011 11:20 by Matt Bird

You know how we recently blogged about your printer being used as a weapon? Well who’d have thought the US military would have taken us seriously and signed up Xerox as a supplier!

Of course, I jest, …Xerox, more commonly known for their ink and toner cartridges have not in fact been signed up to supply ink weapons, but have actually been awarded a new $103 million (£66 Million) contract with the US Department of defence. The printing giant is going to provide the DoD with printing services and technology for the next five years.

Xerox have worked with the DoD for over 40 years, and it aims to continue providing internal printing services to the Defence Logistics Agency, and all its facilities throughout the US, as well as kitting them out with the latest in “document management technology”.

Sherman Parker, Xerox’s vice president promised that they’d “reduce costs, unleash new capabilities and more effectively serve the Department of Defence.” I don’t know about you but, while “reducing costs” and “serving more effectively” are pretty standard promises, “unleashing new capabilities” has me hoping for all manner of ink based war machines.
