New Heroes to the rescue of cash strapped consumers! September 09, 2011 08:37 by John Sollars

Kodak Hero printers!

Heroes of the Universe

Kodak have launched a new range of All in One (AIO) or even Multi Function Printers (MFP) - I hear your groans of disappointment, we are all ‘searching for a hero’ to misquote a song that is annoyingly running through my head.  I suppose it is marginally better than Chris Evans playing ‘The Candyman’ on a Friday morning!.  Anyway back to reality, Kodak have launched their new range of all in one printers and someone back in the marketing department has come up the the whizz bang idea of calling them Heroes!  We’ll get hold of one soon and unleash young Matt to review them then we can tell you what they should have been called!

'What’s new?' I hear you asking from the back, well the really exciting thing for us in geekland is that they are Google Cloud print enabled; wow, that’s quite neat actually.  Matt has written about enabling Google Cloud print here, but if the application is embedded in the actual printer software that makes life much easier if you are using any form of mobile device and you use Google Docs (we happen to here at Stinkyink towers - nice!).  According to Kodak the other main benefit is that they use their ‘premium ink at an affordable price.’

The range includes four new printers to it’s home lineup; the Hero 3.1, Hero 5.1, Hero 7.1 and Hero 9.1 and for the home office  the ‘KODAK OFFICE HERO 6.1 ALL IN ONE PRINTER’ - sorry, excuse the capitals, that was transcribed from a Kodak PRESS RELEASE and it all got a bit shouty!

In addition to Cloud printing capabilities, with the Kodak ‘pic Flick App’ you are able to print directly from your iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, Blackberry or Android device which again is a neat idea.  The whole range is wireless enabled and features an easy connection to a home wireless network.

Looks like a nice range with some nice ideas implemented, we’ll wait until we’ve got our hands on one before shouting too much more, but well done Kodak.
