Using printer ink devices efficiently can reduce business costs August 30, 2011 08:58 by Matt Bird

Firms can reduce their energy consumption by switching off printer ink devices and PCs in the evening, according to Business Cost Consultants.

The company noted that making staff aware of these eco-friendly tactics can significantly help reduce wastage that occurs in offices across the country.

On top of this, the Business Cost Consultants added that implementing these simple procedures can significantly cut the amount of energy being used and make large monetary savings.

Donald Maclean, managing director at the firm, said: "Staff should also be encouraged to print double-sided to reduce wastage and use email as much as possible to reduce the need to print."

Which? recently noted that on many printer devices they will have a draft or fast mode, which will reduce the amount of ink being used.

Katie Waller, senior researcher at the organisation, added that turning the machines off during the evening will significantly cut the amount of energy being wasted rather than being left on standby.
