Apple updates drivers for Epson, Lexmark July 13, 2011 09:50 by Chris Rails

Consumers using Epson and Lexmark printers are now able to download updated drivers released by Apple.

They can be obtained through the Apple Support Downloads page, but are only useful for those who have experienced problems with their devices.

Consumers who download the updates anyway could find themselves facing problems, experts warn.

The Epson 2.7 Printer Drivers update provides the most recent software for both printers and scanners, while the Lexmark 2.5 Printer Driver update does the same for the manufacturer's products.

Epson recently caused a stir in the printer market when its executive director of marketing in Europe Rob Clark indicated that it is aiming to become an inkjet-only operation.

Speaking to ITProPortal, he suggested that ink cartridges and their associated devices will eventually take over in the corporate sector, which is an opportunity that Epson hopes to take advantage of.
