Canon resolves dispute over toner cartridges Jun 08, 2011 11:11 by Chris Rails

A patent infringement dispute brought by Canon against 20 companies has now been settled.

The company initiated legal proceedings against the firms over their use of certain toner cartridges and their photosensitive drums.

Among the businesses in question were Ninestar Image International Ltd, Ziprint Image Corp and LD Products Inc, who were subject to the complaints filed by Canon on June 28th last year.

They were accused of being in breach of US patent numbers 5,903,803 and 6,128,454.

However, as a result of the legal proceedings, all 20 companies concerned will now be restricted from making, using and selling the printer toner cartridges in the US.

Last month, the Canon imagePROGRAF iPF8300 was named Best Photographic Printer of the Year 2011 by the European Digital Press Association.

The judges hailed the device for being an "all-round commercial printer that gives the user more options".
