UK-based print consultancy and software solution provider NewField IT has been acquired by Xerox, which hopes to boost its managed print services (MPS) portfolio.

Software from the firm will be used to help Xerox's clients implement MPS more efficiently, which in turn could lead to a number of cost savings being made.

"As an independent unit, we can take advantage of Xerox's global presence and respected innovation in the MPS space to scale our business and technology," explained Xerox co-founder Robert Newry.

He added that the company will not change how it serves its clients and shall remain impartial when it comes to serving the market as a whole.

Earlier this month, Xerox was recognised for its efforts to improve the recyclability of its printer ink cartridges by the International Association of the Deinking Industry.

The products were rated "good" by the organisation, meaning they scored in excess of 90 out of 100.
