Ricoh to cut 10,000 jobs over 3 years May 27, 2011 16:52 by Chris Rails
Job losses are set to be made at Japanese office equipment manufacturer Ricoh over the next three years, the company has announced.
It has been affected by a series of problems over recent years, including the global financial crisis and the strong yen, which has made it difficult to stave off competition.
Company president Shiro Kondo said in a statement that the company will need to be streamlined in order to remain competitive.
"We have become a big company and need to re-engineer our corporate structure throughout to become more muscular," he commented.
Mr Kondo explained that the company will be reducing situations where ten people are carrying out a task that could easily be achieved by two.
Ricoh recently appeared at Northprint 2011, during which it completed five sales worth in excess of £500,000.
DDL Group, Horizon Digital Media and Platinum Print all chose to invest in digital colour presses.
