Dell raises awareness of recycling targets April 28, 2011 09:23 by Chris Rails
New figures from Dell show the electronics firm is well on its way to achieving its recycling targets for the next few years.
According to the company, it recycled more than 68 million kilograms of electronics that were no longer useful during the 2011 fiscal year, all of which would have usually ended up in landfill sites.
This is an increase of 16 per cent when compared to the fiscal year 2010 and leaves the company two-thirds of the way to its goal of one billion pounds of recycling by 2014.
Eco-conscious printer ink customers can take advantage of the Dell Reconnect scheme, which allows them to recycle unwanted computer equipment such as printers and scanners.
Meanwhile, rival ink cartridges and printer firm Kodak recently announced "significant progress" on new sustainability aims.
According to the brand, it has lowered its greenhouse gas emissions by almost half since 2002.
Kodak customers keen to go green should look out for printers with the Energy Star rating, which is only given to the most eco-efficient products.
